Fall Family Fun in the Wildwoods

Did you know that every year there are over 150 events that take place in the Wildwoods annually?  In the Wildwoods we are all about having a good time year round!  While the summer beach season has passed, there are still plenty of reasons to pack your bags and head down to the shore. Here’s a look at some fall family fun that the Wildwoods have in store this season. 

Oktoberfest- It’s Not Too Late!

Head on over to Morey’s Pier to enjoy the last weekend of Oktoberfest, October 7th-9th.  This event is where German traditions of merriment meet the joys of shore life- there is even a beer loving octopus blowup!  Hop on a roller-coaster and then enjoy a hot pretzel with mustard and bratwurst with your loved ones.  This event has only gotten more popular as the years go on, and there is something for the whole family.  Enjoy some live music and kick back in the beer garden. Live music is played all weekend long at the Coca-Cola Stage.

• Oct. 8 from 6:30 pm – 10:30 pm: Weird Science

Wildwood Truck Meet & Pulls on the Beach

Have any truck lovers in the family?  Don’t miss the first time Smoke and Speed will host the Truck Meet on the beach!  Take some time to check out show trucks and pulling trucks at this free family friendly event.  The trucks will be out on Rio Grande Avenue beach for all to enjoy.  Trucks pulls will occur Friday at 2 pm and 5 pm, and Saturday 12 pm and 3 pm.  Pulling trucks will perform so you can choose which truck you think will be king of Wildwood beach!  There will be snacks and apparel to browse and enjoy, featuring various vendors.  The truck show takes place on Friday, October 7th from 12 pm-7 pm, Saturday, October 8th from 11 am-7 pm, and Sunday from 12 pm-4 pm. Crest Best Run Fest

Exercise is one of the best ways to destress, so why not join in a community run!  The Crest Best Run Fest is hosted by Inspira Health and takes place mainly in the borough of Wildwood Crest, NJ.  This world class running event has options for people and even your furry friends!  Race the Crest Best Half Marathon, 10 Miler, 10K, 5K, Kids Fun Run and/or Doggy Derby!  Enjoy beautiful views, cool swag, and an opportunity to win awards!  

Here’s the schedule for the weekend:

Saturday, October 8th: 

• 1 pm- Kids 1K
• 3 pm- Doggy Derby 1 Mile
• 5:30 pm- 5K

Sunday, October 9th:

• 8 am- Half Marathon
• 8.10 am- 10 Miler
• 8:20 am- 10K

Wildwoods ‘50s, ‘60s & ‘70s Weekend

Enjoy a blast from the past all weekend long!  Friday night, October 14th, kicks off with a ‘50s Dance Party starring The Cameos at the Wildwoods Convention Center from 6:30pm-10:30pm. Tickets are only $16 plus tax per person.  Wake up Saturday and explore the free street fair, taking place from 11am-5pm and featuring classic cars, food and craft vendors, and live music.  Continue the festivities at Saturday night’s concert, which begins at 7 pm in the Wildwoods Convention Center, and groove along to music from the 1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s.  Saturday night’s entertainment features The Vogues, Tommy James & The Shondells, The Voice of Tribute starring Tommy C (impersonating Frankie Valli, Lou Christie, Bobby Darren and Frank Sinatra), and Nathaniel Cullors as Young Michael Jackson. Secure your tickets now through TicketMaster!  Tickets will also be available the weekend of the event at the Wildwoods Convention Center Box Office (Friday: 4pm-9pn and Saturday: 12pm-8pm). 

Drinks & Drag Queen Halloween Show

Looking for an entertaining way to embrace the spooky season?  The Drinks & Drag Queen Halloween Show will not disappoint!  Get into the spirit and dress in your favorite costume to this spectacular event taking place on October 21st at the Wildwoods Convention Center.  Prizes will be awarded for best costume!  Note that this is an adult only show, featuring 6 wonderful Drag Queens and Hosted by Astala Vista.  Doors open at 7 pm and the show starts at 8 pm.  Get your tickets and have a wicked good time!

Wildwood RV Show

If you are into RV life or contemplating it, you sure won’t want to miss this end-of-year liquidation sale!  Taking place October 21-22, it’s the largest one in south jersey, and will be featuring top brand recreational vehicles from NJ’s largest RV dealers, including Dylan’s RV Center, Driftwood RV Center, Whitehorse RV Center, and Cross Roads Trailers.  There will also be many vendors who specialize in RV’s.  Admission is $12 and the show runs Friday from 12pm-7pm, Saturday from 10am-7pm, and Sunday from 10am-5pm.  For more information click here. 

Bonfire on the Beach

One of the best ways to enjoy the jersey shore in the cooler months is with a bonfire on the beach!  This event is hosted by the Anglesea Irish Society & Greater Wildwood Jaycees.  Make this event a new tradition, as you can count on it happening every year- this October 22nd from 6pm-10pm marks the 11th year!  Bring a chair, blanket, and good company!  General admission is $10, with kids under 12 being $2.  Come enjoy live music and a beautiful evening outside.  Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.  The Rain date is November 5th.  For more information click here.

98.7 The Coast & the CIty of Wildwood Trunk or Treat

Come on down to Held at Fox Park, 4500 Ocean Avenue, from 3pm–6pm on October 29 for a festive time!  There will be food, entertainment, prizes and more!  If you want to decorate your automobile to take part in the event, be sure to pre-register here, otherwise this event is free for the whole family!

Greater Wildwood Elks Halloween House

Haunted house adventures are a hallmark of Halloween, and this one is free!  This event is both spooky and sweet, as trick-or-treaters walk through the haunted Elks Lodge and receive treats throughout their adventure.  Elks Lodge is located at 109 West 1st Avenue in North Wildwood, and the haunted house takes place from 5:30pm-8pm on October 29th.  

North Wildwood Trunk-or-Treat Halloween Block Party

Dress up your vehicle and bring the kids in costume to take part in this fun annual family event!  The trunk-or-treat takes place along Olde NJ Avenue in North Wildwood.  Participants are encouraged to bring their vehicles decorated in Halloween spirit.  Vehicle check-in is at 4:30 pm with the event running from 5:30pm-7pm. All participating vehicles must be registered (forms are available at 900 Central Avenue in North Wildwood or at City Hall) and registration is free.  Prizes will be awarded to the best decorated vehicles.  Children will enjoy trick-or-treating from car to car in a safe, community environment.  There will also be other festivities, including balloon twisting, music, magic and more!  Visitors can park in the municipal lot at 2nd and Olde New Jersey Avenues.
