To Beachfront or Not to Beachfront: Choosing the Right NJ Shore Motel
When planning a Jersey Shore vacation, choosing the right place to stay is the foundation for a great trip. With so many options, how do you choose the right NJ shore motel? This article can help you make a great choice for you & yours to enjoy the best possible NJ shore vacation.
Though we’re obviously biased in thinking beachfront is the way to go, we’ll play fair & also highlight some reasons why some visitors choose to stay a little further from the ocean!
Why to Stay Further from the Shoreline
Save Money
One of the main reasons to not beachfront is the potential to save money. Being closer to the ocean usually comes at a cost: a larger price tag. By staying further from the shoreline you can save money and maybe splurge more on other aspects of your vacation.
You Can Still Enjoy the Beach
While it might take a bit longer to get to the beach or boardwalk from where you do choose to stay, if you are the type of family that stays on the beach or boardwalk all day long, you can settle in once you arrive on the sand, and still make the most of your Wildwood vacation throughout the entire day without having much regret that you’re a bit further from your pajamas.
That said, it’s no secret that finding parking (and a bathroom!) is one of the biggest challenges on an NJ beach vacation. If you do choose to stay at a motel that isn’t beachfront, we strongly recommend that you stay as close as possible, ideally within as easy walk to a beach entrance.
Easy Variety
Another perk of staying further from the beachfront is that it can invite more variety & a little spontaneity into your vacation. You’ll see more of the area than if you’re spending your nights right next to where you were spending your days on the beach. You might come across a fun looking restaurant, store or activity while driving, and decide to live in the moment and venture in!
Proximity to Diverse Attractions
Let’s embrace the awesome truth that there’s a whole lot to do in the Wildwood & Cape May areas besides the beach! Maybe not everyone in your family wants to spend the whole vacation by the waves or on the boardwalk. By staying further away from the beach you can have closer proximity to a variety of different activities in the area, such as the Cape May Zoo or Wildwood’s many restaurants, wineries and breweries. You’ll also have better access on and off the parkway in the case that you need to travel outside Wildwood during your stay.
Why we recommend staying at a beachfront resort
Of course most people go “down the shore…” for the shore. Don’t get us wrong – we love the mainland – but you’ve got the mainland at home. The ocean & incredible beaches of the Wildwoods are the reason we’re here, and they’re the reason people keep coming back every year. To get more of what you came for, we obviously recommend that you stay oceanfront, so the beach entrance is practically right outside your door. And since every room at the Armada has an ocean view, we consider this to be expert advice.
Beachfront is the Best of Both Worlds
At Armada, you truly get the best of both worlds, all at a great value—conveniently located close to Wildwood’s greatest attractions and footsteps from the ocean. The perfect balance of fun activities and beach relaxation await. Whether taking a solo trip, looking for a romantic get-away, or building memories with your family, being beachfront has something for everyone.
Health Benefits to Staying Beachfront
Here’s a reason you might not have been expecting! Did you know there are health benefits to staying beachfront? Being by the ocean is naturally relaxing. Simply watching the ocean waves changes your brain waves’ own frequency, putting you in a more peaceful state. By staying beachfront, you get to soak in more relaxation and truly rejuvenate during your vacation. Even science believes in the healing power of the sea! Studies show that air by the sea is higher in negative ions, which help our bodies better absorb oxygen and are attributed to helping to boost your mood and improve sleep. When staying at a beachfront motel, you’re also naturally more likely to be active, since it’s so much more convenient to take a walk on the beach or go jogging on the boardwalk, to challenge your balance and core muscles by paddleboarding, to dial up the excitement by surfing, or to simply take a nice long swim.
Unbeatable Ocean Views
One of the main reasons to stay at a beachfront location is for the ocean views… and at this point we have to pause & point it out: Not all beachfront hotels offer the same value as Armada. We are proud to shout it from the rooftops that every room at the Armada By-the-Sea boasts a magnificent ocean view with sunny southern exposure. Pro-tip: If you’re considering other resorts, make sure you ask about the positioning of the room you’d be given. There are plenty of beachfront hotels & motels in the Wildwoods – but staying in one doesn’t necessarily guarantee you a room with a view.
There’s nothing quite like watching the morning sunrise and enjoying your favorite morning beverage to start the day, or seeing the moon rise over the waves. At our hotel, you’ll have plenty of vantage points for each – all rooms are oceanview, some rooms feature a private oceanview balcony and we also have two spectacular communal sun decks. Both of the sun decks are perfect places to reset after entertainment and activity. Enjoy some drinks while basking in the sunshine, or kick back with a good book and the sound of the ocean waves in the background.
Make the Most of your Wildwood Vacation
By staying beachfront at Armada, you can make the most of your Wildwood vacation. Since you are so close to the beach, as well as other popular attractions, you can spend your time enjoying the best of what Wildwood has to offer—fun and sun!
